Armout Macleod – Robust Scotch Ale from Stadsbrouwerij BRAUW

Armout Macleod is a powerful Scotch Ale (Wee Heavy) with an alcohol content of 8.4% ABV, brewed by Stadsbrouwerij BRAUW in Genk. Formerly known as Brauwsel #002, this beer owes its name to the sturdy, artisanal style and perhaps a touch of humor regarding “Arnout MacLeod”.

The beer stands out for its deep amber color and incredibly rich malt profile. The refined selection of malts provides warm caramel notes, hints of vanilla, and a soft, malty finish  . The balance between sweet and bitter makes it accessible, while the 8.4% ABV gives the beer enough body and character.

Each year, a special Oaked edition is also released, in which the beer matures further on oak wood, adding subtle woody nuances and extra depth to the flavor.
