Grote Klos – Spicy tripel with local story

Grote Klos is a powerful Belgian tripel (11 % ABV) from CyDraLe, developed in collaboration with the Poldermuseum Lillo.  By using spelt in the mash, the beer appears hazy blond in color, giving it a soft texture.  The name and recipe are inspired by the local legend of Petrus Van Huffelen, nicknamed “De Grote Klos”, who supposedly used a medicinal herbal drink. 

In terms of taste, Grote Klos shows a combination of spiciness and sweet esters, with subtle bitterness (20 IBU according to Untappd) and a warm, full body that nicely carries the high alcohol.  The result is a characterful beer that not only celebrates the heritage of the region but also invites long enjoyment in every glass.
