Stanneman Extra Dubbel is a dark and characterful regional beer from Herselt that clearly targets lovers of stronger, full flavors. This 9% alcohol beer is described by the brewery itself as a very dark, almost stout-like extra dubbel with a nice firm foam head and a creamy texture. The aroma and taste mainly feature coffee and chocolate, complemented by a slightly raisin-like sweetness that adds some extra depth. 

On the palate, Stanneman Extra Dubbel starts soft and sweet, followed by notes of chocolate and licorice, with a strong coffee bitterness that lingers beautifully. This is therefore not a classic, mild dubbel, but rather a dark beer to enjoy with a bit more punch and roasted accents. An interesting choice for those who enjoy dubbels with extra body and a slightly stout-like edge.
